It is simply amazing how much traffic unique content can bring to your blog.
Even if you don’t have you own web hosting, or are using a free blog under Wordpress.com or Blogger with Google, you can still find that people will keep visiting your blog if you are offering unique content.
After all, why were blogs created in the first place? They were used as a means of expressing individual needs or the needs of particular groups on-line. Ask Blogger - they’ve been open for a very long time and certainly back in the day, most blogs weren’t created to commercialize or make money from.
There are so many blogs on the Internet at the moment that it is almost impossible to find a niche that hasn’t been covered by another hundred thousand bloggers. The only difference between YOUR blog and THEIR blog is the content provided.
Unique content is what everyone is looking for. If you know something, or are the first one to publish certain information about how people can solve a problem, not only will you find yourself with increased traffic, you’ll probably be at #1 spot in Google for a particular keyword as well.
Find what you have to offer to the community - and eventually people will appreciate what you have to offer.

What did you think when you read that post title?
Was that relevant to you, or did you just start reading this post out of sheer curiosity? Or did you think it was just plain stupid? Whatever the case, if you are reading this, then perhaps I have already demonstrated the power that a captivating title can wield.
When blogging, it is important that you take the time to carefully refine and format your posts. This rule applies for the title of the post as well. It could mean the difference between someone losing interest within a matter of seconds or staying on to read the rest of your post. Let me give you an example.
Say you were running a movie blog and found the movie ‘The Dark Knight’ of interest and wanted to make a post about it. You create a stunning 500 word post, but unfortunately you’re late for work and rush the title and enter:
The Dark Knight Review
There are hundreds of free reviews elsewhere, and if you’re looking for a creative rather than an informative post, you’ve gone about the wrong way in naming your post. Go to IMDB and you’ll find user reviews with titles more interesting than that.
Try:
Not All Heroes Are Glitz and Glamor
By concealing the purpose of the post you may find that people stop longer and take the time to read. If you have a carefully constructed post, this should not be a problem.
The differnece between the target audience that can be attracted with a simple title is stunning. So take the time to think of a unique title, every post.

If you’re running on a blogging system like Wordpress, you may not have noticed the ’scheduled posting’ option.
Scheduled posting is creating a post beforehand, but telling the system to post it at a later time. This means that you can spend time writing posts but choose not to release it all at once.
You can blog into the future as much as you want!
On Wordpress, when you are creating a post, just above the ‘Save’ and ‘Publish’ buttons is an option asking to Publish immediately. There is an edit button there.
Click on the edit button to set the date and time of your current post.
More information can be found on the Wordpress FAQ here
In fact, this is a scheduled post for 12PM in the afternoon exactly. Check the posting time for yourself to prove that it works!

Promoting a blog, for most of us, is the solid barrier between a successful blog and an unsuccessful one. Some of us may be willing to invest more to promote a blog, while for others, time and funding is limited. Below is a well researched list on how you can promote your blog whether you just started off or are looking to increase traffic.
Low Budget:
- Traffic exchanges are an excellent way to start. They require some input from the user and you may find yourself having to invest time to get your blog some exposure. Once you have some funds, however small, you can start to think about buying traffic from various exchanges. Google ‘Blog Exchange’ or ‘Link Exchange’ and a large list of websites will appear before you. There is one website however, that merits recommendation for its system. Linkreferral.com provides you with a unique system where members must view and review other websites in order to advance in ‘rank’ for their own. Having a higher rank means that your website will appear earlier in your category and subcategory, thus giving you the opportunity for more potential readers.
- Link exchanging with other blog owners. If your blog is relatively small, you can take steps to exchanging with other blogs. Having your link on another blog means that you increase your chances of finding yourself an interested reader. Exchanging with blogs in the same niche can be both a good and a bad idea depending on how you settle the agreement with another blogger.
- Word of mouth. Yes, you may already be thinking, no way, I don’t want to talk to my friends and family about what I write online! You should remember however, that talk is FREE and it doesn’t cost you time or money. And what if you have a friend who shares the same interest as you? He or she could be an invaluable source of support and you would lose nothing even if they aren’t interested – even as a blogger, you have your own hobbies and are an individual.
Medium-High Budget
- Get a domain name and a private web host. This will take your blog to the next level of professionalism, and enable your website to be found easily on major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
- Create a SITEMAP for your blog – if you don’t know what a SITEMAP is, in dummy terms, it’s used by search engines to scan through all the content you have in your website and make it easier for a user to find your blog when they are searching for particular keywords. Blogging platforms such as Wordpress have plugins available to download to do this for you.
- Start your advertising campaign. Google Adsense, Bidvertiser, AdBrite – there are so many different advertising systems available for you to take advantage of on the internet. If you have some money you are interested in getting more exposure, this option should not be overlooked. Or even better, buy some ad space on popular blogs which receive lots of daily unique hits. This way your blog will be seen as well.
- Set up a forum. This perhaps is not seen commonly in blogs and is not necessary – but if your blog was to become successful, readers would definitely appreciate having somewhere to discuss with each other about your posts aside from the comments box.
- Make sure your blog is indexed in Google and buy some backlinks. Nobody will find your work nowadays if it’s not indexed in at least Google. Backlinks are links from other websites which mention your blog link – the more backlinks, the higher your page rank and you will have more visitors as your website will be easier to find.

Blogging for many is more than just a hobby or an online web of thoughts – it is an art and a passion. However, new bloggers often become discouraged after creating their first blog.
This could be due to the lack of readers, or the vast amount of high quality competitor blogs with communities and reader databases so large that it makes a newbie blogger feel inferior.
Yet there is one important key trait however, that separates a successful blogger from the rest.It is often overlooked and underestimated. This crucial trait that any blogger who wishes to become successful must develop is… persistence.
Set yourself some objectives.
There is nothing more boring than an inactive blog which has been abandoned by its owner. And what would the result be for you?
Hours of precious time wasted on a failed project. So if you are going to do something, make sure you go all the way through. 95% of failures from new blogs come from people who abandon their project before they attract enough attention to really analyse if their work was a failure or not.
If you want to create a successful blog, you will have to commit yourself to writing and keeping yourself motivated. Believe in yourself, and what you have to offer to the community.
